Beaches offer varied and interesting terrain for the rambler.
It's not easy to get lost on the sort of beach where there's sea on one side
and a cliff on the other. Reassuring though this may be, such beaches do carry
the risk of getting cut off by the tide. Despite its element of excitement, this
possibility is usually inconvenient and can be fatal.
So beware.
Rock pool beach rambling is a joy to the little boy inside us all. Obviously
it's best to find a rocky beach for this activity. I am personally not drawn to
those beaches made of soft yellow sand into which the ramblers' foot disappears
with every step. Each to their own though.
