Treknow is a charming village of slate built cottages. It was originally home to miners of slate, who hacked their wares from surrounding local cliffs. The dwellings were constructed with whatever suitable material came to hand. Oak rafters salvaged from the keel of wrecked ships have broken many a modern drill bit.
The route passes an award winning bolt hole called The Puffins which was built on the site of an abandoned railway carriage.
From Bossiney in the north to Trebarwith village in the west, this eight has plenty of variety and interest.
Tintagel Castle, like the nearby church of Merteriana, dates back to at least Norman times.
Trebarwith Strand is a sandy bay peppered with slate monoliths. Gull Rock guards its mouth. High above the Strand Trebarwith village can be found. It more a hamlet than a village. Its only public facility is a post box.
Return via farm and woodland.
