Trevigue is a 16th century farmhouse turned b&b restaurant. It is set in ruggedly beautiful surroundings. A 1994 survey found sparse evidence of a medieval settlement in the vicinity. Ponies and goats can often be seen wandering this section of the coastal path. The local dairy farm at Pengold ensures the presence of cattle, though these animals tend to remain inland. Pengold claims some connection to Robert, Count of Mortain and half brother of William the Conquerer.
Reaching to Crackington Haven and Rusey Cliff, this eight maintains the theme of contrast. From the quaintly stereotypical East Wood to the challenge of climbing Cornwall's highest cliff (called High Cliff) this eight combines beauty with endurance to offer a satisfying but not overly daunting day's walk.
The Strangles is a beach offering peace and rockpools to those fit enough to reach it. The final stretch of access path is by a thoughtfully provided rope. Visitors should be aware that The Strangles is completely covered in seawater during high tides.
